Hurricane Irene is bearing down on us today and we pray that all our friends and family everywhere, stay safe and out of harms way. As of this hour, 4:00 am, all at the farm is well. The alpacas are all inside the barn and seem content to stay there until this all passes. We have filled up every spare water jug so that we will have fresh water for the animals if we lose power. We have our local friends with city water on stand by, so we can go refill as needed. I suppose if someone decides they must have a cria today during all this crazinees, and it is a female, it wil have to be named...

This year we were invited to participate in the Connecticut Irish Festival in North Haven. We had a great time. The alpacas loved the irish music, especialy The Rogues, featured above! Our set up at the Irish Festival. I spent the weekend spinning! Summer has finally arrived at Hunter Hill Alpacas. We are busy dyeing yarn, spinning and knitting. Check out these new alpaca leads! Ever wonder what to do with all that extra lead while you are in the show ring? I tried holding it in my left hand, letting it dangle, dropping it when I showed teeth, but it was always in the way. This new lead solves that problem. An all in one loop makes showing your alpaca a cinch. Slip your arm through the loop and then grasp the lead. Enough lead to do what you need but not a lot of excess to keep track of.
